PI Fundamentals

This course considers the essential features of professional indemnity insurance, including what types of claims are commonly covered by a professional indemnity policy, some key insurance terms and the concept of ‘claims made and notified’ insurance.

Working Overseas

Robert Caulfield draws on ten years’ experience of working in Asia and the Middle East to provide an overview of the advantages and challenges of working overseas.

Security of Payment

An outline of the core principles of security of payment legislation. This presentation is specifically about the Victorian “SOP” regime, but its core concepts are generally helpful to understand legislation in other states.

Inspections and Certificates

A practical look at some of the key services performed by consultants involved in construction phase services - site visits, observing the progress of the works and issuing compliance certificates.

Electronic Documents

This practical session focuses on the risks associated with using and storing electronic documents, and explains some practical tips to overcome these risks.

Engaging Sub-Consultants

There are insurance risks associated with engaging subconsultants. This module explains some of the risks and why you should avoid engaging subconsultants. However, the session also sets out some of the steps you can take to protect your practice if you do have to engage subconsultants. 


Each topic within this course lasts for 20 minutes, making a total of two hours.
